If you were absent today, you will make up the satire essay next week, you should either
1. Come to class 10 minutes early (before school if you're in first period; during lunch if you're in 5th period) tomorrow to make sure you get the full time on your essay OR 2. Make it up next week when classes are back to their normal time. If you were absent today, please see the slides here.

Today you read, annotated, and outlined your thoughts on "A Modest Proposal." If you were absent, pick up the excerpt from the bin when you return tomorrow. Make sure to identify the argument and 3 satirical devices Swift uses to convey his message. Slides are here.
On Friday students read 2 satirical passages and compared and contrasted them. If you were absent, your job is to get the passages from the absent bin, then pick ONE passage to write ONE body paragraph about. identify the argument and explain how one rhetorical strategy works to convey the argument.
