Absent today? Make sure to check out the slides here. We will be writing on Wednesday so make sure you take some notes to prepare!
Today you set up your ePortfolio. If you have questions, please look at the ePortfolio subpage - in particular at the slides and at the tutorial screencast video.
If you were absent today, please see the slides here. There are a few excellent videos about how attitude affects success. There is also important information about rhetorical appeals, which Angela Lee Duckworth used to convince you of her point.
Today you worked on a multiple choice protocol - test corrections with explanations - for the diagnostic exam.
Slides with instructions (look at 8/22 slides) Protocol format Diagnostic scale (remember, this is just to look at, and does not affect your grade) 26-31 = 9 24-25 = 8 22-23 = 7 21 = 6 19-20 = 5 17-18 = 4 16 = 3 14-15 = 2 13 & below = 1 Today you checked out textbooks and we looked at the diagnostic from yesterday. Remember: you can do it! Do not be discouraged by this diagnostic. You still have a lot of growing you will do before we get to the AP test in 9 months. In particular today, we looked at vocab, something that all of us probably need to improve! So we will be working on building vocab this year; you got your first vocab packet today. The quiz on words 1-10 will be in a couple of weeks. Your homework tonight is to choose 15 vocab words from the list and define them, if you did not already do so in class.
Today you took a diagnostic exam to see where you currently are in terms of quick, critical reading skills. This is just the beginning, and you will improve a great deal before the AP test in 9 months! Congratulations on finishing your first AP multiple choice test - I know it was tough, but you did it, and it's just a starting point. If you were absent today, you'll take it upon your return.
If you were absent today, you'll make up the lesson when you return, but if you were here and just want a refresher, the slides are here.
