Today you practiced your listening skills with a focus passage from Ch. 30 of TKAM and answering comprehension questions about it. Then you used evidence from the book to support assertions in our wrap-up 4 Corners activity. Here are the slides from today.

Here are the slides from today. Today you did a Kahoot on Ch. 28 to make sure you understood the chapter, then you identified whether major characters were static, stock, or dynamic (using evidence to back up your claims!), then you wrote a persuasive letter about the theme of TKAM and why students should continue to read it. You can turn this letter in on Tuesday if you did not finish. If you were absent and missed the matching activity, please see me so you can make it up.
Today in class we had some check-in time to see how you are doing, then you did some critical thinking about why Lee made the choices that she did, with the decision tree. See the slides here
Today you began writing a few paragraphs of your TKAM courage essay, focusing on a character who showed courage in the trial. Slides from today are here if you were absent.
Today we had our fishbowl discussion about Atticus' closing speech. If you were absent today, please turn in your answers to yesterday's discussion questions (see the slides from yesterday).
Today we briefly reviewed the trial so far and reviewed the rhetorical appeals. Please see these slides to remind yourself of the discussion norms and the questions we will be talking about tomorrow.
Today you took some notes about what you have learned about the trial so far, then filled out a graphic organizer for Ch. 18 of TKAM based on which rhetorical appeals the characters use to be convincing. If you missed today, check out the slides, which include a link to the graphic organizer that you can print and fill out.
Bonus: video clip of Atticus cross-examining Mayella in Ch. 18 (not totally congruent with the book). Don't forget, NoRedInk diagnostics are due this weekend! (#1 Friday, #2 Saturday) Login with Google on your school account. Today I introduced you to research on SIRS. If you haven't yet filled out the Google Form with your top 4 interest topics, please see the Google Classroom. You should also create a folder in your Google Drive and start saving articles there from SIRS. Please see me if you are having trouble with this.
We had very short classes today due to College & Career Day. If you missed today, please answer the inference questions on the slides here.
If you were absent today, please complete the treasure hunt questions on these slides so that you are caught up on a basic summary of Ch. 13/14. You missed a small group discussion about prejudice, but you can still answer the questions individually. I want you to start thinking about injustice and prejudice in preparation for your research project, because you will get to explore an issue in detail and think about how you might propose to solve it.
